A Lifetime of Stories in Song

At 73 years young, I still find joy in picking up my guitar and sharing songs with the world. With a voice seasoned by time and a lifetime of stories behind every note, I draw inspiration from legends like John Denver, Johnny Cash, Waylon Jennings, Bobby Bare, The Beatles, Jim Croce and the like - artists who, like me, knew the power of a well-told story wrapped in melody.

Born and raised in the shadow of Mt. Hood, Oregon, I grew up surrounded by the kind of rugged beauty that shapes a man in the most effective way. My childhood and early years were spent fishing in crisp mountain streams, hiking through thick evergreen forests, camping under star-filled skies, and hunting for more than just game - I was always in search of the next great adventure.

That love of the road led me to a career as a long-haul trucker, spending decades behind the wheel, crisscrossing America’s highways with only the hum of the engine and the rhythm of the road for company. Along the way, I collected stories of places like small-town diners, desert highways at sunset, late-night radio shows playing the songs that kept me going, and the people I met who still remind me why music matters so much.

But no matter how far I traveled, my heart always belonged to the Pacific Northwest. Now, with more time to do what I love most, I play for the sheer joy of it - whether it’s at local gatherings, campfires, or anywhere folks want to hear a song that feels like home. And there was never a more satisfying and enthusiastic crowd than when I played for my friends at the NAPD (New Advances for People with Disabilities). My playing is honest, heartfelt, and filled with the kind of experience that can only come from a life truly lived.

For me, music isn’t just something I do: it’s who I am. And as long as I have a guitar in hand, I’ll keep playing, sharing, and reminding people that the best songs are the ones that come straight from the heart!
